services start going back to our family history and our tradition
of excellence with more than a half of a century in development
and tourism on the area of Manuel Antonio.
Decade of ‘50s:
He was young… Don José Fallas Morales (in Costa
Rica we switch “Mr.” with “Don”) arrives
to an unknowing beach, crossing many mountains by more than
a week horseback trip …an enterprising and brave young
man, he came to this area looking for his dream of gold and
best horizons.
He started making roads where either the
horse can go through. Today those wild and unknowing mountains
have a good road and take us up to the Manuel Antonio National
Park thanks to the tenacity and vision of this pioneer.
So he build the first “rancho”
(“hut” but to sale drinks and rest in front of
the beach), after that he build some premises growing up to
build “Cabinas Manuel Antonio”; the First beach
Restaurant and the First Dance hut; all of them oriented to
national tourism. Shortly later his house has been converted
in the Hotel Manuel Antonio, the first hotel in all the area
just in front of the Manuel Antonio National Park entrance.

Don José begins the area development at an international
level after 30 years of hard work. He was the man that makes
big efforts to create the “Government Declaration as
National Park” for this area. His participation in National
Politics helped him to become Personal Adviser of the President
of Costa Rica; doing well for the sustainable ecotourism development
in Manuel Antonio.
Unfortunately Don Jose is no longer among
us, but his legacy will stay with us forever.
With just 18 years old Manuel Antonio Fallas the sixth son
of Don José with the help of his family Anel, Christian
and Nuria, founded “Rancho Los Tucanes” in 1992.
On Londres of Quepos they started the mountain and nature
adventure tourism with the First professional Horseback Riding
Tour in all the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Their
experience and quality about tourism it is outstanding.
Now, Rancho Los Tucanes have over 13 years
of leadership on the horseback riding tours and with confidence
and success they began new corporative expansion in 2001 so
they created the ATV four-wheeler Tour.
Starting 2004, they began the new educational adventure with
out Damas Island Mangroves Tour and the Manuel Antonio National
Park guided walks with the unique quality seal from our company.
